Do I need to turn off Shopify's own emails?
It depends on which Shopify emails you mean - and the answer is different for each. There are two very different kinds, so start by identifying which one you're asking about.
1. Shopify's marketing & recovery emails → safe to turn off
If you mean Shopify's own automated marketing flows and abandoned-checkout recovery emails (in the Shopify Email / Marketing app), it's safe to turn those off when you use Wiz. Wiz covers this for you, so turning them off prevents your customers from getting duplicate marketing emails.
2. Transactional emails → leave these on
If you mean Shopify's transactional emails - order confirmations, shipping updates, etc. (in Settings → Notifications) - do not turn these off.
Wiz handles the marketing side of email, not the transactional side. Those Shopify notifications should keep running so your customers still get their order and shipping updates.
Quick reference
Shopify email type | Where it lives | With Wiz |
|---|---|---|
Marketing flows, checkout recovery | Shopify Email / Marketing app | Safe to turn off (Wiz covers it) |
Order confirmation, shipping updates | Settings → Notifications | Keep on - Wiz doesn't replace these |
Common questions
Will my customers get double emails if I don't turn Shopify's marketing off?
They can, yes - if both Shopify and Wiz are sending marketing/recovery emails. Turning off Shopify's marketing side avoids the overlap.
If I turn off Shopify emails, will order confirmations stop?
Only if you turn off the wrong ones. Leave the transactional notifications (Settings → Notifications) on - Wiz does not send those.
