Domain setup incomplete or not verifying
If you started connecting your own sending domain but didn't finish - or verification isn't passing - your domain will show as Incomplete on the Sender info page. This article explains what that state means and how to get past it. (For the full walkthrough, see Connecting your domain.)
What "Incomplete" means
Go to Brand & Settings → Sender info. If setup was left partway through, the Sender section shows a red Incomplete badge with a note explaining that the DNS setup was never finished, so the domain can't send emails yet. You'll see two actions:
- Continue setup - pick up where you left off and finish verifying the domain.
- Disconnect - drop this domain and start over with a different one.

If "Verify Records" doesn't pass
Verification checks that the DNS records you added match what Wiz expects. If it doesn't pass on the first try, work through these:
- Give it time. DNS changes don't take effect instantly. Propagation can take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours. Wait a little, then click Continue setup and press Verify Records again.
- Check where you added the records. They must be added at your DNS provider (GoDaddy, Namecheap, Cloudflare, etc.) - not inside Shopify.
- Check the values. Every record - the 3 DKIM records and the 1 DMARC record - has to be copied exactly, with no extra spaces or missing characters. Even a small typo will keep verification from passing.
- Confirm all records are present. Verification only passes once every required record is in place at your provider.
If it still won't verify after you've waited and double-checked, the in-app live chat can help.
Starting over with a different domain
If you'd rather use a different domain, click Disconnect on the incomplete domain. That clears it out so you can begin a fresh setup. Then follow Connecting your domain from the start with the new domain.
Common questions
How long should I wait before retrying?
There's no fixed time - DNS propagation varies by provider. A few minutes is often enough, but it can take a few hours. If it hasn't passed after a couple of hours, recheck your records.
Will my customers stop getting emails while this is incomplete?
No. Wiz keeps sending from the shared domain until your own domain is verified, so your flows keep running normally.
Can I leave it incomplete indefinitely?
Yes, but connecting your own domain is recommended for deliverability, and it's required before you can send campaigns. See Connecting your domain.
