What counts as an active contact?
Your Wiz plan is billed on active contacts, so it helps to know exactly what that means - especially if your bill looks higher than your subscriber count.
The three numbers on your Contacts page

- Total contacts - everyone in your account.
- Active contacts - everyone who can receive emails. This equals Total minus Suppressed, and it's the number your plan is billed on.
- Suppressed contacts - addresses that can't receive marketing emails: people who unsubscribed, were manually suppressed, or bounced.
In short: Active = mailable = billable.
Why active contacts can be more than your subscribers
"Mailable" is broader than "subscribed." An active contact might be subscribed, or simply not unsubscribed - for example, a customer who checked out but didn't tick the newsletter box. They still count as active because they can be emailed (subject to the rules for your country).
So your active-contact number - and your bill - can be higher than the number of people who opted into your newsletter.
Where billing shows this
Your Brand & Settings → Plan & billing page shows your plan and your current Active Contacts count for the billing cycle, along with when the cycle ends.

Reducing your active-contact count
If a contact is suppressed, they no longer count as active. You can manage this from Contacts → Manage contacts - see Suppressing & unsubscribing contacts for how, and note that once you un-suppress someone there's a 90-day wait before they can be suppressed again.
