Choosing your audience & segments

Every campaign is sent to an audience, set in the To: field at the top of the Campaign Editor. Wiz recommends one for you and helps you find the right size - broad enough to reach people, focused enough to stay relevant.

The prebuilt engagement segments

By default, Wiz builds a set of ready-made segments for you, based on engagement - so you can send to the people who have actually been opening and clicking. Each one includes everyone who opened or clicked one of your emails within a given window:

  • Engaged in the last 30 days
  • Engaged in the last 60 days
  • Engaged in the last 90 days
  • Engaged in the last 120 days
  • Engaged in the last 180 days
  • Engaged in the last 360 days

A shorter window is a smaller, more engaged audience; a longer window reaches more people but includes some who haven't engaged as recently. Wiz picks the right one for your store and labels the rest so you can see the trade-off:

  • 🟡 Too Narrow - likely too few people to be worth a send.
  • 🔵 Recommended - the sweet spot Wiz suggests.
  • 🟠 Too Wide - reach is high but relevance (and engagement) may drop.

Each option shows its contact count so you can see the trade-off at a glance.

Using your own Shopify segments

Need something more specific than the engagement windows? Scroll to Load more segments at the bottom of the dropdown to pull in any segment from your Shopify store.

Who actually receives the email

When you pick a segment, Wiz shows how many of those contacts are subscribers:

The subscriber-count note under a chosen segment

By default, Wiz only sends campaigns to subscribed contacts - this keeps your sending compliant. So the subscriber number is typically how many people will actually receive the email, which can be lower than the segment's total size.

Want to reach contacts who aren't subscribed? That's possible in some cases, but it needs to be set up with our support team first - reach out via chat.

Excluding recent buyers

Campaigns automatically exclude anyone who purchased in the last 5 days, so you're not sending a discount to someone who just bought at full price.
