How Wiz discounts work
When you set up Wiz, it automatically creates a set of discount codes - one for each flow - based on the maximum discount you chose. This article explains what those codes are, where they live, and why each customer gets their own unique code.
The discounts Wiz creates
Wiz creates five base discounts, one per flow. The exact percentages depend on the maximum discount you picked during setup - Wiz assigns a sensible value to each flow rather than using the maximum everywhere.
Discount code | Used by |
|---|---|
| Welcome flow |
| Abandoned Checkout |
| Browse Abandonment |
| Thank You |
| Winback |
These live in your Shopify admin → Discounts. Search for "BASE" to find all five.

Every customer gets a unique code
Each of these is set up so that every customer entering a flow receives their own single-use code at send time. In Shopify you'll see it described as "created by Wiz - each customer will enter a unique code at checkout."

That's why, when you edit an email in Wiz, the coupon shows a placeholder like WELCOME-{DYNAMIC} rather than a fixed code - Wiz fills in the real, unique code for each recipient.
By default each code has no minimum purchase, is limited to one use per customer, and can't be combined with other discounts.
Where to make changes
Because these are real Shopify discounts, you change their value, product eligibility, minimum purchase, and exclusions in Shopify admin → Discounts - not inside Wiz. For the full process (including updating the wording in your emails), see Changing a discount.
Common questions
Can a discount apply automatically at checkout?
Yes, through Shopify's native auto-apply feature, which is built into Shopify rather than Wiz. Add /discount/CODE to a link that points to a store page, or &discount=CODE to a checkout link, replacing CODE with your discount code. Because it's a Shopify feature, it works the same way across all your Wiz emails.
